Understanding the stucco process
Stucco is a material which can be applied to flat, curved, interior, or exterior walls. Most often it is used on homes more than on commercial buildings. It can be applied directly to a solid base like masonry or concrete walls, or to a metal a lath attached to the frame of the construction. When applied to metal lath, two coats of stucco are applied. When applied to foam lath, one coat of stucco is applied.
Stucco is a very strong and long-lasting material. It is fire-resistant and sheds water but breathes, allowing water vapor to escape.
Stucco is composed of cement, lime, sand, and water. Fiberglass is also added to the mixture to help prevent the formation of cracks.
